Copyright & License

Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer) (eISSN: 2822-4841) provides open-access publication for all articles and materials published online, except where otherwise noted. This page explains copyright ownership, licensing, permitted reuse, and how to request permission for commercial use.

1) Copyright Ownership

Authors retain copyright of their published articles and materials in PedPer.

By submitting and publishing in PedPer, authors grant the journal a perpetual, non-exclusive license to:

  • publish, distribute, and publicly communicate the work as the original publisher;
  • identify Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer) as the original place of publication;
  • archive and preserve the work in any medium or format;
  • include the work in digital archives, indexes, repositories, and preservation systems.

2) License: Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

All published content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

Under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, users may read, download, print, copy, share, and adapt the content for non-commercial purposes, provided that:

  • Attribution (BY): the original work is properly cited, a link to the license is provided, and changes (if any) are indicated; and
  • NonCommercial (NC): the material is not used for commercial purposes; and
  • ShareAlike (SA): if the material is remixed, transformed, or built upon, the resulting work must be distributed under the same license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

3) Permitted Reuse (Non-Commercial)

The following uses are permitted under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, as long as proper attribution is provided and any adaptations are shared under the same license:

  • linking to the article page or PDF;
  • downloading and sharing the published version for educational and research purposes;
  • printing and distributing copies for non-commercial use;
  • posting the published version on personal or non-commercial academic webpages;
  • creating non-commercial adaptations (e.g., translations, teaching materials, remixes, or adapted figures/tables), provided that the adapted material is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 and changes are indicated.

4) Repository Deposit (Self-Archiving)

Authors may deposit the published version of their article in non-commercial repositories (e.g., institutional repositories) or on personal academic pages, provided that:

  • the original publication in PedPer is clearly acknowledged; and
  • the DOI/URL to the official journal version is included; and
  • the licensing information (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) is displayed.

If authors deposit an adapted version (e.g., a translation prepared for non-commercial dissemination), they must clearly indicate changes and distribute the adapted version under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

5) Text and Data Mining (TDM)

Non-commercial text and data mining is permitted under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, provided that attribution is maintained and any redistributed outputs comply with the license terms (including ShareAlike where applicable).

Requests involving commercial TDM should be directed to the journal for permission.

6) Commercial Use and Permission Requests

Commercial reuse is not permitted under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 without additional permission from the rightsholder(s) (typically the author(s)).

Examples of commercial use include:

  • reuse in commercial products or paywalled services;
  • republication for profit or commercial marketing;
  • commercial distribution of translations/adaptations or derivative teaching products.

(Note: Non-commercial adaptations—such as translations or modified figures for educational use—are permitted as long as they are shared under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 and properly attributed.)

7) How to Request Permission

Requests for commercial reuse should be submitted to: info@pedagogicalperspective.com

Please include:

  • article title, author(s), and DOI/URL;
  • the material requested (full article, figure/table, excerpt, etc.);
  • intended use (commercial/non-commercial), format, and distribution channel;
  • whether any modification/adaptation is proposed.

PedPer aims to respond within a reasonable timeframe. Permission may be granted with conditions (e.g., attribution requirements) or declined where the request conflicts with licensing terms or third-party rights.

8) Attribution Format (How to Cite When Reusing)

When reusing PedPer content, please cite the original publication. A recommended attribution format is:

Author(s). (Year). Title. Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer), Volume(Issue), page range (if applicable). DOI/URL. Licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/).

If you made changes (e.g., translation/adaptation), also add: “Adapted from…” and briefly describe the changes.

9) Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any third-party material (e.g., figures, tables, images, datasets, long text extracts) included in their manuscripts.

Authors must:

  • secure written permission from copyright holders when the material is not covered by fair use or similar exceptions;
  • provide permission documentation upon request during submission/production;
  • ensure that reused materials do not violate copyright law.

Where third-party material is included, it must be clearly identified with its own rights statement, as it may not be covered by the article’s CC license.
